Boo part 2 (hey that rhymes!)

Since my gal Christy gave a shout-out to Seeger's first costume, I went a looking for photo's to post of Halloween 2004. (They had been on an old computer which crashed and burned, taking early Kubat digital images with it. We now have an external hard drive to back up our photos and music. Let that be a lesson to all of you!) Luckily, the site I use for photo printing still has everything I've uploaded since 2002. Thank you, York Photo!

Being the frugal mom I am, I purchased the boys' costumes from a children's resale shop. There are so many infant costumes out there but since it was Seeger's first Halloween, I wanted something unique, something I hadn't seen before. I decided on this for him. (I call it an octopus costume but since there are only 6, not 8 arms, I'm not really sure what water dwelling creature this is. Any ideas?)

Nicklas was Sully from Monster's, Inc. The resale shop didn't have a lot of options for a three-year-old but he fell in love with this. He was so cute and more importantly, warm! I paid a total of $8 for these costumes and ending up selling them to someone else for $10. Bonus!

Anna was a princess. I love the hat! You can't see it very well in this photo but it's pointed and usually stands up. (I'm sure there is proper name for a pointed princess head topper but I don't know what it is.)

And Ben was a bat.

I don't have digital images of Nick's costumes prior to 2004 and since I don't have the patience to scan them, you'll have to do with a summary in writing. Let's see... in 2003, he was giraffe. He was really into giraffe's (I made him a giraffe cake for his birthday that year) and a teacher at his preschool was making costumes so I paid her to make something for him. It was really cute but a bit uncomfortable for him. I think I paid her around $15 which wasn't bad for a custom made costume. In 2002, he was an elephant. Again, he was really into elephants and I found a cute costume at Old Navy. And his first Halloween in 2001, he was a tiger (do you see an animal trend here?). I bought his costume at the resale shop that year for $5.

As I mentioned before, I plan to make costumes for both kids this year. If you have any ideas for a cool zombie, let me know. I have some white face paint and I plan on frayed jeans (that are too short) and a ratty shirt. And Nicklas wants to spike his hair all over. Does that sound zombie enough? Here is my inspiration for Seeger's bee costume. It's basically the tunic and head piece which I think I can do. Looks easy, right?
